The Heptarchia Mystica

A Modern English Rendering

In septenariis totus Mundus circumagitur omnium quae et Viua gignuntur, et quae nascuntur. Septem quidem sunt (quorum est maxima potentia) Primogeniti Angelorum Principes.
The whole world revolves in sevens, and all things that are born, live, and grow. Indeed, the first-born Princes of the Angels (whose power is greatest), are seven.

Chapter 1

Some Needful Testimonies of the General Contents of this Book

Bralges 16/11/1582

Beware of wavering. Blot out suspicion of us. For we are God’s creatures that have reigned, do reign, and shall reign forever. All our mysteries shall be known to you.

Behold, these things and their mysteries shall be known to you:

Reserving the secrets of Him that reigns forever. The voice of a multitude, answered, singing whose name is great forever.

King Carmara

Open your eyes and you shall see from the highest to the lowest. The peace of God be upon you.

17/11/1582

[Latin] Come. Let us gradually repeat the works of God.

Princes spoke the great things of God. Secondly, Kings do this especially.

Prince Hagonel

[Latin] There is one God and there is only one work.

[Latin] Very many came upon the convex surfaces of the transparent globe, and said:

[Latin] “We are ready to serve our God.”

King Carmara 19/11/1582

This work shall have relation to present time, and present use, to mysteries far exceeding it and finally to a purpose and intent where the majesty and name of God shall and may, and of force, must appear with the apparition of his wonders, and marvels yet unheard of.

Michael

As Michael and Uriel, at the beginning of these revealed mysteries, were present, and gave authority to Carmara, to order the whole Heptarchic Revelation; so at the conclusion, they appeared again and Raphael with them; and Michael concluded the second book (of this particular Heptarchic Revelation) with these words following.

Merciful is our God and glorious is his name which chooses his creatures, according to his own secret judgement: This Art is the first part of a Threefold Art, joining man, with the knowledge of 1) the world, 2) the government of his creatures, and 3) the sight of his majesty. To him (O I say to him) which is strength, medicine, and mercy to those that fear him. Amen.

King Carmara 21/11/1582

You have a work of three proportions in essence: of seven in form, which is of itself divided by a septenary number. Of the course, estate, and determination of things 1) above things 2) next, and 3) things below which of itself is pure, perfect, and without blemish.

God, how easy is this first understanding? You have been told perfectly, plainly, and absolutely. Not only the condition, dignity, and estate of all things that God has framed, but also, with all you have delivered: the most perfect form and use of them.

King Carmara 17/11/1582

Even as God is just, his judgments true, his mercies unspeakable, so are we the true messengers of God, and our words are true in his mercies forever.

Glory, glory be to you, most high God.

Michael 29/04/1582

Now you touch the world and the doings upon Earth. Now we showed to you the lower world. The Governors that work and rule under God. By who you may have power to work such things as shall be to God’s Glory. Profit of your country and the knowledge of his creatures. We proceed to one God, one Knowledge, and One Operation. Come, daughters.

Uriel

The fountain of wisdom is opened. Nature shall be known. Earth, with her secrets disclosed. The Elements with their powers judged.

Behold these tables. In here lies their names that work under God upon earth. Not of the wicked, but of the Angels of Light. The whole government consists of the hands of 49 (in God his power, strength, mercy, and justice) whose names are here evident, excellent, and glorious. Mark these Tables. Mark them. Record them to your comfort. This is the first knowledge. Here you shall have wisdom. Hallelujah! Mighty and omnipotent are you, God, God, God, amongst your creatures. You fill all things with your excellent foresight. Your glory be amongst us forever. Amen.

Behold, I teach. There are 49 Angels, glorious and excellent, appointed for the government of all earthly actions: which four do work and dispose the will of the Creator. Limited from the beginning, in strength, power, and glory. These shall be subject to you. In the name and by invocating upon the name of God who does lighten, disposes and comforts you.

King Carmara 19/11/1582

What does the heaven behold or the Earth contain, that isn’t, or may be subdued, formed and made by these? What learning grounded upon wisdom, with the excellencies in nature can they not manifest?

One in heaven they know.

One, and all in Man they know.

One, and all in Earth they know.

Measure heaven by a part (my meaning is, by these few). Let God be glorified, his name praised, his creation well taken, and his creatures well used.

Uriel 5/5/1582

He that stands in the midst of the globe signifies nature, upon where in the first point is the use and practice of this work. That is to say, concerning the first part, for it is said, “The book contains three kinds of knowledge“.

The knowledge of God, truly.

The number and doing of his angels, perfectly.

The beginning and ending of nature, substantially.

Chapter 2

Principal & Peculiar Manner
to Exercise the Heptarchical Doctrine

Michael 15/11/1582

This is the last age of truth that will be revealed to you.

The mysteries of God have a time. Behold, you are provided for that time.

Prince Hagonel 16/11/1582

The sons of light, and their sons, are subject to my commandment. This is a mystery. I have spoken of it. Note it thoroughly. They are my servants. By them you shall work marvels.

There are false and unjust kings whose power I have subverted and destroyed, So shall you.

The second assembly were the governors of the Earth whose glory (if they are good) the weapons we have taught you [Δ] will augment, and consequently pervert (if they be ill).

Prince Bornogo

I am Bornogo. This is my seal. This my true character. What you desire in me shall be fulfilled. Glory to God.

Prince Befafes

Behold, behold, behold: my mighty power consists in this. Learn wisdom by my words. This is wrought for your erudition what I entrust you from God. Look on your charge truly. You are yet dead. You shall be revived. But bless God truly. The blessing that God gives me I will bestow on you, by omission. How mighty is our God whom walked on the waters, which sealed me with his name, whose Glory is without end? You have written me but yet do not know me. Use me in the name of God. I shall be ready at the time appointed. I will manifest the works of the seas and the miracles of the deep shall be known.

King Camara 17/11/1582

* Annael gave me that commandment. Δ

Behold, you desire, and are sick with desire. I am the disposer though not the composer of God’s medicines. You desire to be comforted and strengthened in your labours. I minister to you the strength of God. What I say is not of my self, neither that which is said to me is of themselves. But it is said of Him which lives forever. These mysteries have God lastly and of his great mercies granted to you. I have answered your doubting mind. You shall be glutted. Yes, filled. Yes, you shall swell and be puffed up with the perfect knowing of God’s mysteries in his mercies.

Do not abuse them. Be faithful. Use mercy. God shall enrich you. Banish wrath. It was the first and greatest commandment*. I reigned by him and live by Him whom reigns and lives forever.

King Carmara

I have shown you perfectly. Behold, I teach you again. How merciful is God who reveals such great secrets to flesh and blood? You have 42 letters. Your tables last contain so many.

When you will work for anything appertaining to the estate of a good king. You must first call upon him, which is their prince. Secondly, the ministers of his power are six.

In outward sense, my words are true. I speak now of the use of one of the first, that I spoke of, or manifested yesterday. I didn’t say and didn’t show which had the government of princes for as it is a mystery to a further matter. So is it a purpose to a present use? If it rule worldly princes, how much more shall it work with the princes of creation? You desire use. I teach use. Yet, the art is to the further understanding of all sciences that are past, present or yet to come. Fruit has greater virtue then only in the eating. Gold has greater condition, property, and quality, then in melting or common use. In nature, there are kings, with nature, and above nature. You are dignified.

Last of all, the ring which was appointed to you with the lamen comprehending the form of your own name, which is to be made in perfect gold as is aforementioned.

A sketch of the ring instructed to be worn. JC

You shall be comforted. But respect the world to come, where into you are provided and for what end, and that in what time. Serve God truly. Serve him justly. Great care is to be had with those that meddle with prince’s affaires. Much more consideration with who you shall meddle, or use any practise. But God has shadowed you from destruction. He preserves his faithful, and shadows the Just with a shield of honour. None shall enter into the knowledge of these mysteries with Him but this worker. Your estate with the prince, (now reigning) shall shortly be amended. Her favour increased with the good wills of diverse, that are now deceivers. Your hand shall shortly be their help and though shall do wonderful and many benefits (to the Augmenting of Gods glory) for your country. Finally, God does enrich you with knowledge and of yourself has given the understanding of these worldly vanities. He is merciful. And we, his good creatures, neither have, do, nor will

forget Him. God does bless you both: whose mercy, goodness and grace, I pronounce and utter upon you. I have said.

King Bobogel 19/11/1582

*King Bobogel said this of my attention to such mysteries, as the mysteries under him were shown. Δ

Dee, Dee, Dee, At length, but not too late.*

King Carmara 20/11/1582

Look, therefore you see the glory of God’s creatures who you must use with the consideration of the day, their King, their Prince, and his character. The King and Prince govern for the whole day, the rest according to the six parts of the day. Use them to the glory, praise and honour of Him which created them. To the Lord and praise of His majesty.

Bynepor

Write this reverently. Note it with submission. What I speak has not been revealed. No, not in these last times of the second last world. You shall work marvels marvellously by my workmanship in the highest.

To my Prince (my subject) are delivered the keys of the mysteries of the Earth. All these are angels that govern under Him. Use them. They are, and shall be, at your command.

By me, you shall cast out the power of wicked spirits. By me, you shall know the doings and practices of evil men and more than may be spoken or uttered to man.

[Latin] “How great is the weakness and corruption of man, who scarcely has faith in the Angels, that is, in his good deeds, but in God? All worldly dregs, worldly corruptions have in them. God is not, God is not, God (I say) he is not true with his true Angels, and those who serve him, but is always true by what you want”, I said. What I said is overshadowed by truth, justice, and perfection.

[Latin] Behold [holding up the flesh]
here [pointing to the end of the flesh]
by this [pointing to the middle of it]. Δ

King Carmara 21/11/1582

[Latin] And at the end of the measure, you will measure us, our power. “Come!”, I said. “What do you want? For there is nothing dark that you have received through Him.”

One thing is yet wanting: a flesh receptacle. There is yet wanting a stone. One there is most excellent: hid in the Secret of the depth, in the uttermost part of the Roman possession.

Look! The mighty hand of God is upon you!

You shall prevail with it; With Kings and with all creatures of the world, whose beauty (in virtue) shall be more worth than the Kingdoms of the Earth. Go towards it and take it up. Keep it sincerely. Let no mortal hand touch it but your own.

Uriel 5/5/1582

He whose name is the first of the sons of Lucis: and it is placed in the character of Baligon himself, or King Carmara. Δ

Your character must have the names of the five Angels (written in the midst of the Seal of Aemeth) graven upon the other side in a circle. In the midst of which must the stone be (which was also brought). Where in you shall at all time behold (privately to yourself) the state of God’s people through the whole earth.

Raphael 23/3/1582

Go and you shall receive. Tarry and you shall receive. Sleep and you shall see. But, watch and your eyes shall be fully opened. One thing which is the ground and element of your desire is all ready perfected. Out of seven you have been instructed (of the lesser part) most perfectly.

All those before spoken of are subject to your call. Of friendship, at any time you may see them and know what you will.

Every one (to be short) shall at all times and seasons show you direction in anything.

One thing I answer you for all offices. You have in subjection all offices. Use them when it pleases you and as your instruction has been.

Uriel 23/4/1582

The Lord says, “I have hardened the heart of one of you. Yes, I have hardened him as the flint and burnt him together with the ashes of a cedar. To the intent he may be proved just in my work, and great in the strength of my glory. Neither shall his mind consent to the wickedness of iniquity. For, from iniquity I have chosen him to be a first earthly witness of my dignity.

Uriel came in again and another with him, and jointly they both said together: “Glorify God forever!” And now Uriel stood behind, and the other sat down in the chair with a sword in his right hand. All his head glistened like the Sun. The hair of his head was long. He had wings, and all his lower parts seamed to be with feathers. He had a robe over his body, and a great light in his left hand. He said: “We are blessed from the beginning and blessed be the name of God forever.” Δ

Michael 11/3/1582

An innumerable company of Angels were about him. And Uriel did lean on the square table. He that sat in the chair then said: “Go forward. God has blessed you.” Δ

I will be your guide.

You shall attain to your searching.

The world begins with your doings. Praise God.

The Angels under my power shall be at your command.

You shall see me.

I will be seen by you.

And I will direct your living and conversation

Put up your pen.

Now Michael thrust out his right arm with the sword and bade the skryer to look. Then the sword seemed to cleave in two. And a great fire flamed out of it vehemently. Then he took a ring out of the flame of his sword and gave it to Uriel, and said: “The strength of God is unspeakable. Praised be God forever, and ever!” Then Uriel made courtesy to him. Δ

14/3/1582 Michael

After this form must your ring be. Note it.

I will reveal to you this ring which was never revealed since the death of Solomon with whom I was present. I was present with him, in strength, and mercy. Look here, this it is. This it is, where all miracles and divine works and wonders were wrought by Solomon. This it is which I have revealed to you. This it is, which Philosophy dreams of. This it is which the Angels scarcely know. This it is, and blessed be His name. Yes, His name be blessed forever.

Then he laid the ring down upon the table and said: “Note.” I noted the manner of the ring in all points. After that, he threw the ring down upon the table and it seemed to fall through the table. Δ

So shall it be done at your command. Without this, you shall do nothing. Blessed be his name, that encompasses all things. Wonders are in Him and his name is wonderful. His name works wonders from generation to generation.

Then he brought in the seal which he showed the other day, and opened his sword and bade the skryer: “Read”, and he read: “Aemeth“. Then the sword closed up again. Δ

This I do open to you because you marvelled at the Seal of God. This is the name of the Seal which be blessed forever. This is the Seal itself. This is holy. This is pure. This is forever. Amen.

15/3/1582

As truly as I was with Solomon, so truly will I be with you. I was with Solomon in all his works and wonders.

Use me in the name of God for all occasions.

Chapter 3

The furniture & Circumstances necessary in the Heptarchical Exercise

King Carmara 17/11/1582

[Spoken] In the presence of Michael. Δ

First cast your eye on the General Prince, Governor or Angel that is principal in this world. Then place my name who you have already. Then the name of Him that was shown yesterday [with the short coat]. Then his power, with the rest of his six perfect Ministers. With these you shall work to a good end. All the rest you may use to God’s glory. for every one of them shall minister to your necessities.

Moreover, when you work, your feet must be placed upon these tablets, which you saw written last, comprehending 42 letters and names, but with this consideration: that the first character (which is the first of the 7, in your former book), be placed upon the top of the table; which you were, and are, and shall be commanded to have, and use.

Last of all the ring which was appointed to you with the lamen comprehending the form of your own name, which is to be made in perfect gold as is aforementioned.

Even as God is Just, His Judgments true, His mercies unspeakable, so are we the true messengers of God. And our words are true in his mercy forever. Glory, glory, be to You, most high God!

20/11/1582

Look, so you sees the glory of God’s Creatures whom you may use with the consideration of the day, their king, their Prince and his character. The King and Prince govern for the whole day. The rest according to the six parts of the day. Use them to the glory, praise, and honour of Him which created them, to the Lord and praise of His majesty.

21/11/1582

The characters of the Kings are in the globe and of the Princes in the heptagon.

Prince Hagonel 16/11/1582

The Sons of Light, and their sons, are subject to my commandment. This is a mystery. I have spoken of it. Note it thoroughly. They are my servants. By them, you shall work marvels. My time is yet to come. The operation of the earth is subject to my power. And I am the first of the twelve. My seal is called Bareesn and here it is.

Prince Butmono said this: “but the office is under King Bnaspol whose Prince is Blisdon. The mystery of this I know not yet, for Blisdon will be fawned to be the proper minister of King Bnaspol. 1583 May 5, of the making of Mensa faeders and my Golden lamen.

In his name, with my name, by my character, and the rest of my ministers, are these things brought to pass. These that lay here are witches, enchanters, deceivers and blasphemers. And finally all they that use nature with abuse and dishonour Him which reigns forever.

The Second Assembly were the Governers of the earth whose Glory (if they be good), the weapons which we have taught them will augment, and consequently (if they be evil) will pervert.

The Third Assembly are those, which taste of God’s mysteries and drink of the juice of Nature: whose minds are divided. Some with eyes looking toward Heaven, the rest to the center of the Earth. There is no glory, no goodness, no good LATIN. It is wrought, (I say) it is wrought (for your understanding) by the Seven of the Seven which were the Sons of Sempiternitie. whose names you have written and recorded to God’s glory.

King Carmara 17/11/1582

Mark this: All spirits inhabiting within the earth where their habitation is of force, not of will. (Except the midst of myself, which I know not) are subiect to the power thereof [pointing to his seal]. With this you shall govern. With this you shall unlock. With this (in His name who reigns) you shall discover her entrails.

When you will work for anything appertaining to the estate of a good King. You must call upon him, which is their Prince. Secondly, the Ministers of His power are six, whose names contain 7 letters a piece, as your tables do manifest. By whom in generality, or by any one of them in particularity. You shall work for any Intent or purpose. As concerning the letters, particularly, they do concern the names of 42. Which 42 in generally or one of them, do and can work the destruction, hindrance, or annoyance of the estate, condition, or degree (as well for body as Government) of any wicked, or ill living Prince.

Venito Bobogel, Rex et Princeps Nobilitatis. Venito cum Ministris: venito (inquam) venito cum Satellitibus tuis, munitus.
Come Bobogel, King and Prince of Nobility. Come with Ministers. Come (I say), come with your Satellites, fortified.

This I Note for the form of calling. Δ

Babalel (to his Prince)

Veni Princeps 7 principum, qui sunt Aquarum Principes: Ego sum Rex Potens et mirabilis in Aquis, cuius potestas; est aquarum visceribus. I have come, the Prince of the 7 princes, who are the Princes of the Waters: I am the Mighty and wonderful King in the Waters, whose power; it is the bowels of the waters.

King Carmara

Venito, veni (inquam) Adesto: Veni Rex. O Rex, Rex, Rex Aquarum
Come, come (I say) Be present: Come, King. O King, King, King of the Waters.

Venito.
When I come When I come (I say) your power is great, but my power is greater. God gave life to all creation. Come: Come Fire: Come mortal life (I say) Come. God reigns here. O come. For he alone reigns, and is the life of the living.

Venite, ubi, nulla quies sed stridor dentium.
Come, where there is no rest but the gnashing of teeth.

Venite vos, qui sub mea estis potestate.
Come, you who are under my power

Behold, every one of these Princes must have his peculiar table.

Uriel 5/5/1584

Your character must have the names of the five Angels (written in the midst of the Sigillum AEmeth), engraved upon the other side in a circle. In the midst of it must the Stone be, which was also brought. Where you shall, at all times behold, (privately to yourself) the state of God’s people through the whole Earth.

The 4 feet of the table must have 4 hollow things of sweetwood where upon they must stand. Within the hollowness your seals may be kept unperished. One month is all for the use.

The silk must be of diverse colours. The most changeable that can be received, for who is able to behold the glory of the seat of God.

The character or lamen for me was noted 17/11/1582, that it should contain some token of my name. And now in this accounted the true character of dignification. I perceive no peculiar mark or letters of my name. Δ

Uriel

The form in every corner, consider your name, Dee. You mean there to be a certain shadow of Delta.

As above. Δ

Δ

What is the use of the 7 Tables, (like Armes) and from what ground are they framed or derived?

Uriel

They are the ensigns of the creation, where all they were created by God, known only by their acquaintence and the manner of their doings.

Uriel: Signs of Creation.

Δ

Have I rightly applied the days to the Kings?

Uriel

The days are rightly applies to the Kings.

At the same time.

Δ

The characters and words annexed to the King’s names, in the utter circumference of the great circle or globe, how are they to be used?

Uriel

They are to be painted on sweetwood, and so to be held in your hand as you shall have cause to use them.

Uriel: At the same time.

28/4/1583

[The] Sigillum AEmeth is to be set in the Middle of the Table.

Grace, mercy and peace be upon the lively branches of His flourishing kingdom. And strong are you in His glory, which does unite the secret parts of your lively workmanship, and that before the weak understanding of man. In here is your power and magnificence opened upon man. And why? Because your divinity and secret power is here, shut up in numero Ternario, et Quaternario – Aquo Principium, et fundamentum omne huius est tui sanctissimi Operis (in the number of the Ternary, and the Quaternary – the Water principle. And all this is the foundation of your most holy work).

Il 28/04/1583

The first of the 7 Sons of Sons of Light

21/11/1582

For if you, (O God) be wonderful and incomprehensible in your own substance, it must need follow, that your works are likewise incomprehensible. But alas, they shall now believe because they see which thus far could scarcely believe. Strong is the Influence of your supercelestial power. And mighty is the force of that arm which overcomes all things. Let all power therefore, rest in You. Amen.

Leave out the B’s of the 7 names of the 7 kings, and 7 Princes and place them in a table divided by 12 and 7. The 7 spaces being uppermost. And therein write in the upper line the letters of the King with the letters of his Prince following next after his name. And so of the 6 other and their Princes. And read them on the right hand, from the upper part to the lowest. And you shall find then the composition of this table.

Therein they are all comprehended saving certain letters which are not to be put in here by reason that the Kings and Princes do spring from God, and not God from the Kings and Princes. Which excellency is comprehended and is also manifest in that third and fourth number.

Round about the sides [of this square table] is every letter of the 14 Names, of the 7 Kings and Princes.

Hereafter you shall perceive that the glory of this table surmounts the glory of the Son. All things else that appertains upon it are already prescribed by your former instructions.

The living and semp adherent Minister to King Baligon and his name is expressed in his character,

God is the beginning of all things but not after one sort, nor to every one alike. But it is Three manner of works with His name.

  1. The one, in respect of dignification.
  2. The second, in respect of conciliation.
  3. The third, in respect of an end and determined operation.

Now Sir, to what end would you wear your character? But how do I teach? The character is an instrument applicable only to dignification. But there is no dignification (Sir) but that which does proceed and has his perfect composition centrally, in the square number of 3 and 4. The center of where shall be equal to the greatest. Hereby you may gather, not only to what end, the blessed character (wherewith you shall be dignified) is prepared, but also the nature of all other characters.

Δ

To the second conciliation, you mean?

Il

The Table is an Instrument of conciliation. And so are the other 7 Characters which you call by the name of tables.

Squared out into the form of Armes which are proper to every King and Prince according to their order.

Note here: it may appear that Butmono is Prince to Bynepor, and Blisdon Prince to King Bnaspol. Δ

Δ

Now to the last. As concerning the end and determined operation.

Il

It only consists in the mercy of God and the characters of these books.

Set down the Kings and their Princes in a table, as you know them with their letters backward (excepting their b’s) from the right hand to the left. Let Bobogel be the first and Bornogo his Prince.

Δ

So on my character or lamen of dignification are all the names of the 7 Kings and of the 7 Princes perfectly. As in the great table (called often times Mensa Faederis [Table of the Covenant]), the b’s only kept back in memory (being the first letter common to them all).

De sigillo Æmeth; aliter, vocato Sigillo Dei.
[Of the seal of Æmeth; otherwise, called the Seal of God.]

Michael 19/3/1582

I will show you in the mighty hand and strength of God what his mysteries are. The true circle of his Æternitie [eternity] comprehending all virtue, the whole and sacred Trinity. Oh holy be he! Oh holy be he! Oh holy be he!

Uriel answered, Amen. Δ

Now, what will you?

Δ

I would fall feign [and] proceed according to the matter in hand.

Michael

Divide this outward circle into 40 equal parts whose greatest numbers are 4. See [that] you do it presently.

Δ

I did so. Dividing it first into 4, and then every of them into 10.

He called one by name, Semiel. One came in, and kneeled down, and great fire came out of his mouth. Michael said to him, “Are the Mysteries of these tables known?” Michael said, “Semiel, (again) and by and by he annexed, “Oh God you have said, and you live forever. Semiel stood up and flaming fire came out of his mouth. And then he said, as follows…

Semiel

Mighty Lord, what would You [do] with the tables?

Michael

It is the will of God [that] you fetch them here.

Semiel

I am his tables. Behold, these are his tables. Look where they are.

Δ

There came in 40 white creatures, all in white silk long robes. And they [were] like children and all of them falling on their knees, said…

You only, are holy among the highest, O God. Your name be blessed forever.

Michael stood up out of his chair and eventually all his legs [were like] two great pillars of brass. And he [was] as high as half way to heaven. And eventually his sword was all on fire. And he stroke or drew his sword over all these 40, their heads. The Earth quaked. And the 40 fell down. And Michael called Semiel with a thundering voice and said, “Declare the Mysteries of the living God, our God, of one that lives forever!

Semiel

I am ready.

Michael struck over them with his sword and they all fell down (and Uriel also) on his knees. And commonly at the striking with the sword, flaming fire, like lightening, did flash with all.

Michael

Note: Here is a mystery.

Then stepped forth one of the 40 from the rest and opened his breast which was covered with silk. And there appeared a great glyph all of gold:

Michael

Note the number

Over the table stood the Number of 4 in this fashion:

The 40 all cried, “It lives and multiplies forever! Blessed be his name!“. That creature did shut up his bosom, and vanished away like a fire.

Michael

Place that in the first place. It is the name of God.

Then there seemed to be a great clap of thunder.

And so forth and note that the whole Second Book is nothing else but the mysteries most marvellous of Sigillum Dei: otherwise called Sigillum AEmeth. Where here I did but leave a little admonishment. Note further, almost all the Third Book was of the 7 Ensigns of Creation whereof mention was here before made.

The chair was brought in again and I asked what it meant.

Uriel

This is a seat of perfection from which things shall be shown upon you, which you have long desired.

Than was a square table brought into the stone, and I demanded what that table betook.

A mystery not yet to be known. These two shall remain in the stone, to the sight of all undefiled creatures.

You must use a four-square table; two cubits square. Upon where must be set the Sigillum Dei. [aliter Diuinitatis? Otherwise Divinity?]

This seal must not be looked upon without great reverence and devotion. This seal is to be made of perfect wax.

This seal must be 9 inches square [or diameter – Δ]. The roundness must be 27 inches, and somewhat more. The thickness of it must be an inch and a half quarter. And a figure of a cross must be on the backside of it made thus:

The table is to be made of sweetwood and of 2 cubits high with 4 feet with 4 of the former seals under the 4 feet. Under the table did seem to be laid red silk two yards square. And over the seal did seem likewise red silk to lie four-square, broader than the table, hanging down with 4 knots or tassels at the 4 corners thereof.

Upon this uppermost red silk, did seem the stone with the frame to be set, right over and upon the principal Seal.

Saving that the red silk was between the one and the other.

Δ

There appeared the first table covered with a cloth of silk [with a] changeable colour: red and green with a white cloth under it all hanging very low.

Some Notice of Peculiar Form & Attire Wherein the Heptarchic Kings, Princes & Ministers Appeared & of Their Actions, Gestures & Appearance
King Carmara

This King (being called first by Uriel) appeared as a man, very well proportioned, clad in a long purple robe, and with a triple crown of gold on his head.

At his first coming, he had 7 (like men) waiting on him which afterward declared themselves to be the 7 Heptarchic Princes. Uriel delivered to this king (at his first appearing) a rod, or straight, little round staff of gold, divided into 3 equal distinctions, whereof two were dark or black, and the third bright red. This red he kept still in his hand.

This King only was the order or disposer of all the doctrine which I termed Heptarchic. As first, by calling the 7 Princes and after that, the 7 Kings and by giving instructions for use and Practice of the whole Heptarchic Doctrine for the first purpose and fruit thereof to be enjoyed by me, of the two other there was only mention made.

King Carmara said, “Ecce signum operis. [Behold the sign of the work.]”

The sign shown by King Camara as “the sign of the work”.

There appeared these two letters, reversed and aversed on a white flag and a woman standing by whose arms did not appear. On the other side appeared the Arms of England. The flag [was] old.

Prince Hagonel

All the Princes seemed to be men and to have red robes. But this Prince, his Robe was shorter than the others. All the Princes had circlets of gold on their heads, not crowns nor coronets. This Prince held in the palm of his right hand, as if it had been a round ring with a prick in the midst, hanging also over his middle fingers which he affirmed to be his seal, and said the name of it to be “Barees“. And that it is.

All the Princes held up together [the] Stellar Heptagon (as I term it) and it seemed to be of copper.

The sons of light and they are sons are subject to his commandment and are his servants.

7 Filij Fili.: El An Aue Liba Rocle Hagonel Ilemese: Emeth

Filij Lucis 21/3/1582

The 7 Filij Lucis, appeared, like 7 yong men, all with bright countenances, white apparaled: with white silk on theyr heds, pendant behinde with a wreth down to the grownd. all apparayled of one sort. Euery one seamed to haue a metalline Ball in his hand: the first of Gold; the Second of Siluer; The 3 of Coper; The 4th of Tynne; The 5th of lern; the 6th tossed betwene his two hands, a rownd thing of quick syluer; The last had a ball of lead. The first had on his brest a rownd Tablet of Gold: and on it written a great I. And the second on his golden Tablet had his name also written. And every one orderly comming furth, shewed theyr names uppon their golden Tablets: At theyr departing they made cursy & mownted up to heven ward

Filij Filiorum – Appeared like 7 little Children, like boyes covered all with purple, with hanging sleves, like preists, or scholers gown sleves: theyr heds attyred all after the former manner with purple Sylk. They had three cornered Tablets on their brests: and the Tablets seemed to be very greene. and on them, the letters of their names written. The first had two letters, made in one thus, of E and L:

They made reverence to Michael (who had called both the first & these) and so mownted up to heven ward.

Prince Hagonel and his 42 ministers

At the Call of King Carmara; (in the Second handling of this Heptarchicall doctrine) whan he sayd, Venite, Repetamus Opera Dei, Appered Prince Hagonel: and after that, uppon the Globe his Convex Superficies, appeared 42: who sayd, Parati sumus servire Deo nro. Eche of these, had somewhat in theyr hands: and they stode in this order, and Hagonel seamed to embrace the Cumpany.

Six of these seamed more glorious then the rest: & theyr coates longer: and had Cerclets of Gold, abowt theyr heds: and held in theyr hands perfect Crownes of Gold. The Second Six had three quarters of Croens in theyr hands: The third six haue robes or clothes in theyr hands: All the rest seamed to haue balls of Gold: which they tosse from one to another. But at the Catching, they seame empty wynde Balls: for they gripe them cloasing theyr hands, as yf they were not solid, but empty like a blown bladder. The first six made cursy to Prince Hagonel. The second six made cursy to the first, & the Third to the Second: And they all, and Prince Hagonel made Cursy, to king CARMARA.

Eche of these uppon the place of theyr Standing, made a Table and every Table had but one letter. The first of the first Six did go away, and in his Table appered an O. & so of the rest: but note that the Third six cowred down, & was loath to shew their Tables: but at length did.

The Third row, went of lamenting: being comannded by the Prince, All parted, in fyre, falling into the Globe.

The fifth Row did Synk into the Globe, euery one in a sundry fyre by him self. The sixth fell with smoke, down into the Globe.

Oratio, ad Deum, singulis diebus, tribus vicibus, ter dicenda
A prayer to God, every day, three times, to be said three times

O Almighty, Eternall, the True and huing GOD: O King of Glory: O Lord of Hoasts: O thow, the Creator of Heaven, and Erth, and of all things visible and Invisible: Now, (euen now, at length,) Among other thy manifold mercies used, and to be used, toward me, thy simple servant John Dee, I most humbly beseche thee, in this my present petition to haue mercy uppon me, to haue pitie uppon me, to haue Compassion uppon me: Who, faithfully and sincerely, of long time, haue sowght among men, in Earth: And allso by prayer, (full oft, and pitifully,) haue made sute unto thy Diuine Maiestie for the obteyning of some convenient portion of True Knowledg and understanding of thy lawes, and Ordonances, established in the Natures and propreties of thy Creatures: By which Knowledg, Thy Diuine Wisdome, Powre and Goodnes, (on thy Creatures bestowed, and to them imparted,) being to me made manifest, might abundantly instruct, furnish, and allure me, (for the same,) incessantly to pronownce thy praises, to render unto the, most harty thanks, to avaunce thy true honor, and to wynne unto thy Name, some of thy due Maiesticall Glorie, among all people, and foe euer. And, whereas, it hath pleased the, (O God,) of thy infinite Goodnes, by thy faithfull, and holy Spirituall Messagers, to deliuer unto me, long since, (throwgh the eye, and eare of E.K.) An Orderlie forme, and manner of Exercise HEPTARCHICAL: How, (to thy Honor and Glory, and the Cumfort of my owne poore sowle, and of others thy faithfull servants,) I may, at all tymes, use very many of thy good Angels, theyr Cownsailes and helps; according to the propieties of such their Functions, and Offices, as to them, by thy Diuine Powre, wisdome and Goodnes, is assigned, and limited: (Which Orderly forme, and manner of Exercise, Untyll euen now, I never fownd so urgent Opportunitie, and extream Necessitie, to apply my self unto,) Therefore, I thy poore, and Simple Servant, do, most humbly, hartylie, and faithfully beseche thy Diuine Maistie, most lovingly and fatherly to favor: and by thy Diuine Beck to furder this my present industrie and endevour to Exercise my self, according to the foresaid Ordrely forme and manner:

And, Now, (At length, but not to late,) for thy dearly beloued Sonne IESVS CHRIST his sake, (O Heavenly Father,) to grannt allso unto me, this blessing, and portion of thy heavenly Graces: That thow wilt, furthwith, enhable me, make me apt, and Acceptable, (in body sowle, and Spirit,) to enioye allwayes the Holy and frendly Conversation, with the Sensible, playne, full, and perfect Help, (in word, and dede,) of thy Mighty, wise, and Good Spirituall Messagers and Ministers Generally: And, Namely, of Blessed Michael, Blessed Gabriel, Blessed Raphael, and Blessed Uriel; And, Allso Especially, of all [45v] those, which do appertaine, unto the HEPTARCHICAL Mysterie: Isagogically, (as yet,) and very breifly, unto me declared: under the Method of Seuen Mighty Kings, and their Seven faithfull and Princely Ministers, with their Subjects, and Servants, to them belonging. And in this thy great Mercie, and Grace, on me bestowed, and to me Confirmed, (O Almighty God,) thow shalt, (to the great cumfort of thy faithfull servants,) approve, to thy very enemies, and myne, the Truth and certaintie of thy manifold most mercifull promises, heretofore, made unto me: And that Thow, arte the True and Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, (uppon whome, I do Call: and in whome, I put all my trust,) And thy Ministers, to be the True, and faithfull Angels of light: which haue, hitherto, principally, and according to thy Diuine Providence, dealt with us: And, allso, I, thy poore, and simple Servant, shall, than, In, and By thee, be better hable to serve thee, according to thy well pleasing: to thy Honor and Glory: Yea, even in these most miserable, and lamentable Dayes. Graunt, Oh graunt, O our Heavenly father, graunt this, (I pray thee,) for thy onely begotten Sonne IESVS CHRIST, his sake: Amen, Amen, Amen.
